New Year's Resolutions - the start of it all

Many years ago I decided rather then making a New Year's Resolution with the best of intentions (that always failed), I would take a different approach. Why not do something for New Year's that either enhanced my life or made a change - something that was lasting and meant something personal. The very first thing was to throw out all my old towels and bed linens that had been handed down to me when I first moved away from home. I bought a few quality towel sets and bed linen sets. And, it felt good. Some years it was a small deed - others years it was rather major. In 2006 it was major. Unavoidable indeed. Necessary absolutely. And, some would say it doesn't count, but it does because the impact on my life was beyond words. Back surgery. Rather then look at the experience as the "pain" it was, I prefer to look at it as a gift. Yes, a gift. The universe decided to nudge my journey along.

Thus began a new life away from what I had known most of my life - working in Corporate America. I had my hobbies and was participating in juried arts & crafts shows. Then I took up photography again. And, another passion took hold. The recovery process was long and had twists and turns that were unexpected but led me to this moment and the approaching New Year 2010.

This journey begins on Thanksgiving day when I fly to New Mexico to spend the holiday with a friend. I've only driven thru New Mexico when I was much younger. Always held a fascination for me. Now I will spend time there.

The real journey begins on New Year's Eve 2009 when I lock the door to my apartment for the last time. My furniture and things I want to keep will be in storage.

Not sure where I will journey to. Perhaps back to New Mexico for a period of time. Maybe visit a friend outside of Montreal or another friend outside of Boston. And, then there is my favorite Village - Village of the Arts in Bradenton, Florida where I can let my creative muse flourish and my gypsy spirit soar.

And, always with my camera next to me. You're never too old.....let your spirit soar
